The Blakey School of Irish Dance has been in operation in Western Canada since 1997.

Philosophy: to enjoy top-level Irish Dancing in a fun, healthy and challenging environment.  Confidence, self-esteem, fitness and poise are encouraged while dancers learn both traditional and modern technique.  Teamwork and team spirit are integral for our students, parents and teachers!

Dancer ShoesBlakey students are highly successful in competition and performance.  We have had dancers in the top 10 at North American Championships, Great Britain Championships, and in the top 15 at the World Championships.  Dancers compete regularly at Regional Feiseanna and we hold a recital at the end of each dance season.  Dancers may also dance recreationally, however the competition syllabus is taught to all dancers in all classes.

DancersCoaches at the school travel and engage in extensive research to gain fresh knowledge in the latest costuming, choreography and trend in the competitive realm.  We also work with fitness specialists, nutritionists and physiotherapists to enhance each dancers experience and skill.

The Blakey School acknowledges its sponsors and supporting organizations, the TDL Society in Calgary, the OSIDPA in Kelowna, and the SSIDPA in Saskatoon.  Fundraising is available for members of the Blakey school or their affiliated organizations.
